Last year OMC made the 225 Johnson

Hey Guys,<br />I currently have a 1990 Johnson 225 and was thinking about repowering with a newer 225 Johnson. I know that Bombard only makes Johnson OB's up to 175 HP. When was the last year OMC made the 225 Johnson?<br />Thanks

evinrude 200 225 and 250's are avaviable other possibility is a 4 joke johnson suggest evinrude e-tec

The only reason I was thinking of Johnson, I was hoping my curreent connection would be a plug and play install since I already have a Johnson on the transome. If I go with a new Rude or 4 Stroke Johnson/Suzuki Am I looking at more exspence of additional new controls etc.?

OMC changed the wiring in 1996 for Evinrude and Johnson. There are adaptors but youre better off to re-rig to take full advantage of the latest warning systems.

So my other cost would be wireing harness only, What about guages? Thanks ina advanced.

You can buy the wiring adapter kit if you plan to use your 1990 wiring harness.<br /><br />In addition, you will need either the 2" System Check gauge with the 4 warning lites, or a System Check tach with the 4 lites in it.

Buy the new controls ,harness, and tach.
