Got a 1982 Mako Angler that I need to get two lids for two of the livewells for my boat. I definitely want all three lids in the rear to be supported with hinges, so they can be open and closed rather than lifted off. I also want them to somehow be able to be locked down tite (not necessarily like with a key lock for safety) but so that when I'm in rougher waters, the lids aren't banging lifting up and down.

I'm thinking about buying some starboard and fitting them for lids similar to how the big well is. But I was wondering if anyone has some good ideas or input for me here. Especially with how to lock down the lids so they wont be banging up and down running the boat. Thanks Here is a picture of the wells and the rear of my boat.

You could fit slam latches in the lids. I picked up a couple from Walmart for 5 bucks apiece. They are like the ones with keys, but just lock in place when you close the lid ( spring operated latch like a screen door )

Not a bad idea. Do they fit flush? Are they made out of stainless....I can't quite put a picture with the latches you speak of. Do you have a picture of yours?
