I have had my motor serviced this spring, the mechanic that preformed the service cleaned the carbs, but did not do a rebuild. When I ran the boat this past weekend, it would not idle well. On one of my portable tanks, it kept sucking the primer bulb completly flat, it ran off the other tank, but would bog down when I tried to throtle up. Should I go ahead and rebuild carbs and or the feul pump? Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Check to see if the timer base (starboard side, under the edge of the flywheel, linked to the throttle lever) moves smoothly without sticking when you advance the throttle.

Take the airbox cover off and check the throttle plates, they should be parallel.

Also, the timer base should start it's travel before the throttle plates start to open, otherwise the she'll die instantly when you give her the throttle.

Sucking the bulb flat is a fuel restriction. The vent could have been closed on that tank.

Ensure you are idling at about 650 to 750 RPM under load and in gear.

High Trim, thanks for the suggestions, I will check the timing when I get back home later this week and see if that might be the problem, the vent was open on the one feul tank, could possibly be the pick up itself in the bottom of the tank. Once again, thanks for the suggestions.

Just thought I would send a thank you for the input on my problems. Took the motor cover off, found the problem right away. The bushing that links the throtle to the timing advance was broken, allowing way to much free play. She would be getting feul but the timing would not have advanced one bit. Once again, I really do thank you for the advice.

that is very common, buy and extra, and you will never need it. but if you don't it will crack again. i have an extra one in each boat.
