Hi,
I was wondering if a late model BRP remote control will work with my 1989 evinrude XP 100 motor. Model number E100STLCEM. The controls are supposed to be only 6 months old, but the guy cut the wires off when he removed them. I think I have attached a picture of the controls I'm talking about.

I don't know what plug it had. As long as the cables will work I can rewire the control to fit my motor. When I look up replacement cables they are listed 79 to present so I assume that they will work. The motor I bought also had the wiring cut off a couple feet from the motor so I have the big red plug to wire back to these controls if they will work.

Your new control box has newer style deuch electrical connectors and normally would not connect directly to your engine. Bombardier makes an adapter cable which will connect the new box to your older red plug engine harness. The contol cables should transfer OK. Since you are missing the electrical connectors on the end of the new box, you should be able to splice the new box directly into the old harness. I'm not a fan of splices on engine harnesses. You could replace the cut box wires with new ones, then get the adapter harness. If you want to go that far, check epc.brp.com for the replacement parts you would need.
