Re: Launch Ramp Issue with Toyota Tundra 5.7L, TRD no 4WD
Yep, no locker or limited slip with 4wd and you have 2 wheels moving, no locker without 4wd and a bit of slime at a heavily used ramp can defeat you with your one wheel getting power. I've seen it many times over the years where people can't get even their trailer out after launching. There will come a time when all the old school trucks die and all trucks will have stability control (not brake based traction control) that will act as a LSD and even the most basic truck without a manual locker or LSD or even 4wd, will at least limit slip with open diffs.
My experience is people buy a truck or suv but don't actually tow anything. Then they decide to buy a boat only to realize that their truck doesn't have the low gearing option or the locker but they instinctively bought the 4wd model as that is just about all you will find on a new truck lot here in MN unless it is a fleet vehicle.
I seen guy's at the ramp with two wheel drive trucks spin the tires with just the trailer.
