Yep Haut, I don't doubt that you get all huffy when someone recommends that the Government indoctrination centers are over funded. After all without those indoctrination centers, young impressionable minds might learn about the nature of man and what intrusive governments have done thru the ages. Why all those students, ie, future citizens might even attain the level of wisdom that our Fore Fathers had attained 300 years ago.

Why, if the government indoctrination centers, aka publicly funded daycare centers, had to provide the quality of education that can be found elsewhere for 1/2 the per student cost, then all those loyal NEA supporters would be out on the street. That would be baaaaaaad for Hillary, et al. And those poor students may not learn how to put ***doms on bananas.

How about this?

Constitutional Amendment.

Any lawmaking body that proposes a new law must repeal an old law before passage.

That ought to get priorities straight.

Not at all, Frog .....
I suspect that would be Boomie's solution though.....
Wa state has about the lowest rating with respect to education....
However, the Wa house just presented the new budget, which will significantly boost spend on education & healthcare.....
The proposal is essentially the same as the governor's, (Christine Gregoire).....
A sid enote: You may remeber her the victor over Dino (Dog) Rossi, in the bitterly fought gubernatorial race, in which she prevailed.....
Anyway, hopefully we will see some improvement......;)

Oregon's land use law's, there are so restrictive you need persmission to anything with your land, They are so oppresive that no one can log anymore and the result's are so drianing that the counties can no longer support there local government's (no tax revenue)

Now guess what the rest of the nation is going to pick up the tab (taxes) for oregon's folly. Yep that's all you folk's...............:% and it's going to in the 100 of million's i believe.....

Hmmmm....where to begin....

55mph is the speed limit on the FREEWAY.

I can have a loaded gun sitting out on the seat in my truck and it's perfectly legal...put it under the seat and I'm committing a felony.

We allow cameras to take the place of police officers and give out tickets.

I have to pay a road use tax on all the fuel I buy for my boat...which doesn't have wheels.

I can't park on the street in front of my own house for more than 72 hours in a row, even though the space is empty otherwise.

One has to be 21 before they can drink a beer, but at 18 they can die for their country, become addicted to nicotine, and catch any number of STDs.

Most people aren't allowed to smoke marijuana, but they are allowed to smoke more addictive substances and drink more mind altering substances. (I happen to be exempt from that law however)

Britney Spears is still allowed to breath oxygen.

Untrained idiots from Verizon are allowed by the city to tear up my yard and spray paint my driveway in order to bury new cables that I don't want or need. And I can't shoot at them.

No probable cause is necessary to stop or search a boat.

Chevron is allowed to charge $2.89 for a single gallon of gasoline.

Well, at least we live in a free country, right?

I was in Georiga in the early 80's, in the army, at 18, and could drink, legally. I deployed to my first combat zone in Honduras, which wasn't a combat zone despite the bad guys with guns, but that is another story, and came home and joined the VFW. But I couldn't drink in my Home of record state of Ky cause the drinking age was 21.

Yep, I agree, that little piece of legislation needs some scrutiny.

Smoking leads to higher costs to the insurance companies who then passes the added overall costs onto you the consumer.
Wait for the genetic screenings to start occuring, you may be denied insurance coverage all together or a job due to your so called genetic ambiguities, it does not become more intrusive than that.
If you believe that is never going to be, wait until the smoke clears. ;)

Sorry Plainsman,

I think they've already decided obesity is a genetic condition and therefore insurance should cover the obese. Whether a thyroid issue exists or a Moon Pie issue exists, a determination would be intrusive, and huniliating for the rotund, and thus, not warranted. So, get fat, then the rest of us should pay for it. REGARDLESS of the route to your obesity.
