Just finished bedding, filleting and glassing in my stringers. I have read in a few threads that when using 6" biaxial tape and epoxy I only need to apply the one layer of tape to glass in the stringers? I have read with using epoxy that it is very strong. I am using systems three silvertip epoxy. Do I need to use more layers as when using polyester resin or am I good to go?

Re: Layer of Biax

Since I had the material and had not received an answer to my question, I applied another layer of biax to the stringer joints. I placed it so that the new layer overlapped the hull about 1.5cm past the first layer. l figure I am good now.

I think two layers should be good. The real strength is in the glass not the epoxy alone. Are you planning to encapsulate the top of the stringers with cloth? If so you should round off the tops so the glass will lay better. Looking good so far.

Re: Layer of Biax

I am not encapsulating the stringers. No need to. They are made from coosa composite, which is a polyurathane foam with layers of woven roving. Thanks
