I have a Mercury 2 stroke 8 hp motor and I'm having a problem with the throttle control. Last year a small plastic rod ball cap kept slipping off the rod and I had to manually take the cover off and pusk the linkage back to get the throttle to go into gear. The shifting was real tight, not smoothe like it used to be. We replaced the connecting rod cap so that it didn't slip off anymore , but the throttle still shifts hard and about 85 % of the time I can not get the WOT in forward gear. I used some WD-40 to spray all the linkage but the problem continues. Any thoughts as to what it could be ???
