Hello All,
I own a boat, but I went on a charter boat this weekend and fished for stripers in the Boston Harbor. The captain had 2 setups, each with a Penn 309 conventional reel, a 6-7' rod, umbrella rigs, and this lead core line, that I had never seen before. It was color coded to let you know how much line was let out. Positive it was this stuff:

I'm basically going to purchase the exact same setup, and fish the exact same way during the times/tides/moons he told me to. I did not however ask what pound test he had, it was pretty thick....
He said he has caught 2 - 40 inch stripers on 1 umbrella rig and the angler had a hell of a time reeling it in, with no line breakage. I don't anticipate catching anything like that, but I could pull up a fat cow over 40 lbs, but not often...
Which pound test should I buy?
