Leak?...or No Leak?

I took the boat out this Saturday for sum fishin. It was about 55-60 degress outside so not to cold but chilly. We're out for about 5 minutes and I pop the hood to check the bildge (a good habit I am told). There is about a cup of water down there and that doesn't seem to bother me for the moment.

But after about 15 more minutes I get this weird feeling I better check again. Now there's about 2-3 cups but still not even enough for the bildge pump to suck up. I took a good look at the engine and didn't see any leaks per say. However it seemed like the engine was sweating and mabey dripping down to cause the water.

I checked again about 20 minutes later and the amount of water was about the same and the engine seemed as though it had stopped sweating.

All the while the temp guage is dead in the middle, I think that's 175 degrees.

Is it possible for the engine to sweat like this or do I have sum sort of leak?

Thanks in advance guys.

Re: Leak?...or No Leak?

No, engines don't sweat that much, and once they warm up, they don't sweat at all.
You may not have a leak in your engine compartment, transom shield, or drive. Water splashing in the air vents will get you that much water. Also leaks around the rub rail and the hull/deck seam. Could also be water from water getting on deck and finding it's way to the bilge.
It's also advisable to have a working bilge pump and float switch.
