leaking exhaust manifolds

I've got evidence that my exhaust manifolds are starting to leak. I've been told I've been on borrowed time as the boats got 6 years of use in salt water. Anyways I've got some rust stains coming from were the risers bolt to the manifolds. I probably know the answer but i'm in denial because of the cost... do I have some time or does this need to be addressed immediately? Is there anything I need to be aware of before replacing these other than draining them before removal. Thanks in advance for the advice.

You can take them off and check them out.If you are going through all the trouble you may as well replace them and have piece of mind and a good motor. Most people dont get the telltale sign that you have. They find out when it is too late.Do yourself a favor .Dont Wait!! Charlie

I have to agree with Crazy Charlie, best thing to do is change the manifolds. Your next 'telltale sign' will probally be water in the engine oil. Shop around on the net to get the best prices on manifolds. I suggest you look at Aftermarket.com or basic discount marine. Good luck.

Re: leaking exhaust manifolds

Thanks fellas. I found a set a marineengineparts.com. They were a couple hundred cheaper than the set from the dealer. I'll be replacing them before I use the boat again.
