Leaking VRO and hose

I have two leaks in the VRO system. One at the primer bulb near the oil tank, and another at the very front of the vro unit. This leak was found running down the four wires and after removing the four front screws, it looks like the seal ring between the oil' in' component and the rest of the pump is leaking. Even though these are very small leaks, I don't want to risk problems, and will just delete the vro rather than buying a new pump ($$). I'm fine with pre-mixing and having some peace of mind by just using the fuel side of the pump since it is presumably ok.

I think I've found good directions for this. Just disconnect the oil tank and wires, cut and plug the oil line near the vro inside the motor, and disconnect the four wire connector. Seems easy...am I missing anything?

I also may need to replace the small u-bend pulse hose and the gas feed hose coming into the bottom of the vro. These show what may be a very small leak as well, or it's just run off from the vro leak. Either way, better safe than sorry. Should I get these from BRP or will regular fuel hose work. I'm concerned about the tight bends. Do I also need to check/replace the pulse valve that is going into the block?

Stupid question: I beleive I know how these work but am not sure if once I remove the VRO oil side, if the pulse hose/valve even matters.

Any other advice you have for this project will be much appreciated!!

yes pulse does matter. google VRO rebuild kit..you can rebuild the fuel side but not the oil side

If the pulse hose has a molded U bend, I would get it from a BRP Evinrude dealer. The gas feed hose just needs to be the right diameter (ID). Auto supply store hose should be fine.

See here for VRO rebuild kits/instructions:

thanks!

Leak is on the oil side, so looks like it's a replace or delete decision.

Re: Leaking VRO and hose

there is a pre mix fuel pump replacement that you can buy, it does not have the oil side..it is over $300 though..OMC really let me down with the VRO fuel pump, they are crappy and they charge about 3 times too much for them. I mean $350 for a $100 part is crazy..so guess what, I got myself a Yamaha..every boat with an OMC and every OMC motor I own are up for sale, should be OMC free by spring.
