leaky seals-

So I have ranted on here about my overheating problem on my 86 Bayliner / Volvo penta aq125, VP 270 outdrive. After alot of suggestions I aquired a seloc manual and started in on the problem one possibility at a time. I took off the heat exchanger and really saw nothing in it, cleaned some debri and (obviosly)drained the coolant ( I believe it was 100%, putting 50/50 in). Well I then reattached the heat exchanger to the block and the coolant reservior, and pour in the coolant. It poured right out of the connections. That is frustrating, I cannot get a good seal!! Is there some trick? I was careful to put the o-rings back into both of the joints and it still leaks!! What is the best way to stop this leaking, to seal the system?? Thanks!

Re: leaky seals-

are the o-rings old or new they will get a compresion set and not seal well, if you use new rings and it still leaks there has to be someting you are not seeing on the mateing surface o-rings make great seals

tommays

Re: leaky seals-

Ok-
I can't get these connections to hold fliud, they continue to leak. Does anybody know if it would be ok to make the seals hold by applying silicon around the connections? Are there any clear cut negative effects that could occur? thanks for the help...
