Left Hand gearcase

OK, I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but wanted to hear from some experts before I blow up at a guy who sold me a lower unit on ebay.

"Standard" rotation is when the drive shaft rotates clockwise (as viewed from above) and the prop shaft rotates clockwise (as viewed from behind), correct? (This is a Johnson/Evinrude V6 gearcase, and with the shifter rod pulled up).

That is correct. Don't know about the V6 gearcase or the year but I believe some
shift rods are oposite and there are controls that can be adjusted to work on either
one.Rotation is clockwise but rod travel is reversed. Someone should be along that
knows these better than me.
