not sure why you need to cut the stock, im strongly right handed, but shoot as a lefty. actually have never had a lefty gun in my hands. ( would give my right arm to be ambidextrous tho!! :)) shooting lefty with a righty gun will become second nature, ......i dont think i could reload a left handed bolt action gun with confidence.

I really put 2 threads in one. I have an extra stock I'll cut because my oldest is 9 and my daughter is 7 and the factory one is to long.

Ambidextrous would be cool. She's only 7 but sometimes she'll write the left side of a page left handed and the other side right handed. I'm pretty confident that she's left eyed though.

Not everyone has a dominant eye. I and others I know can do the tests and wind up on either eye. Those test basically involve focusing on a far away object and seeing which of the two images (one for each eye) of a nearby object (your finger/hands) you see the best. I see both images equally and can choose either one. I can shoot with either eye as well, but I would need a little practice to be very good shooting left handed. If I have a dominant eye it is a very small dominance.

Funny you say that, I'm right eyed dominant but If I try shooting with glasses I throw a lot of shots a couple feet to the side as I somehow switch to using my left eye. I shoot bow with both eyes open but have a harder time shooting a shotgun with both eyes open, especially looking down a vented rib with no rear sight for the same reason.

i get yer plan now, and on the plus side of it, you can just add different thickness recoil pads as she grows. nice to see girls getting into a predominantly boy sport!!!

my son is right hand left eye and we have had a few pistols that he couldnt use due to the shell ejecting to close to his head. The ppk 22 was the worst for this. He doesnt seem to have a problem with the 10-22 or the old nylon 66 but it does look odd the way he lines up on the target. I need to do some reading as hes going in the marines in june to see if theres any way to teach him to use his right eye instead

Don't worry, if you don't, they will, I taught a lot of guys to shoot correctly while in the service, no force, just working with their strengths and making it all work together.

I've been a lefty shooter, all my life. Same scenario, right handed but left eye dominant.

Number one priority is switching the safety, if equipped, to a left hand.

You have to choose firearms carefully, especially semi auto's that eject out the right. I've had plenty of cheek burns. My .22 of choice is a Browning that ejects out the bottom. Lever action and bolt actions don't have the same issues.

My shotguns are pumps or over/unders.
