Re: leg length

you need a 20" motor. they have several mounting holes, so you can get the height correct. i would be more concerned with that patch job, steel plate on the transom.

the boat looks like a self bailer, see picture. i would want some type of splash well, or you deck may stay wet.

Originally it had a rear seat which formed the splashwell but I don't have any pictures of how they did it, theres no markings on the interior glasswork to indicate how it was fixed in place.
The deck slopes away dowwards towards the stern and theres 4 holes to drain, the bilge has a couple of pumps and a drain plug.

The steel plate is bolted by 4 long threaded rods, 1/2 inch dia,
they are 2 feet long and go through 2 bulkheads, terminating near the fuel tank. I'm going to try it as is and see what shakes.

Re: leg length

all i can say is try it. you can always add the splash well. just a 3 sided box, joining the transom, would do it.

I never thought of that, I imagined one peice going all the way across , maybe thats why I couldn't find any sign of the original method.
I may have been looking in the wrong spot.
