Well I bought my first boat and got all googlly eyed over the 90hp murk and didn't pay attention to the front deck. Now I'm scratching my head on how I want to fix it and restore it back to its former glory and then some. It's a Fisher marsh hawk 180 and has been hacked on by the previous owner. Want to lengthen the casting deck and add a rod locker and more storage to the front. They put a home made citing for the foot pedal for the trolling motor and removed the factory locker and console and made their own out of 1/4 diamond plate so now the boat list to the starboard side. Need help ideas on how you guys set up your boats. Wan to put in a factory style cooler to. Thanks for your in put in to a daunting task at hand. This an all aluminum boat so I will keep with that theme. I have a tig welder at work so the welding is no problem. Thanks again

All the verbal descriptions in the world won't give us a mental picture of what you have to work with, save your typing finger and post some pictures of what you have to work with (boat).

Just whenever you can, pictures will get you the most replies and help.

Threads without pictures get little attention and are mostly ignored.

Re: Lengthening a aluminum casting deck

I'm doing the same thing.

Actually I lengthened my the one in my boat when I built the first front deck, but decided it wasn't enough. With a 17' boat I'm shooting for a front deck about 8-8.5ft long. It will have TWO pedestals, with pro seats and two guys will have more than enough room to fish it. Even for Musky. The third guy when that happens will be on the rear deck (after the rear extension is dropped in place)

Sure you lose some cockpit area, but you gain LOTS of storage. Cockpit area does you no good when you have tackle bags, coolers, and rods laying everywhere. Plus there will be room for both guys to gain access to the "front of the boat" when casting.

Hi and welcome to iboats. In Photobucket, when you highlight a picture you want to post, you'll see a box below it that has 4 different lines. If you left click in the 3rd box down it will change to "copied". Then, come into your response and right click and that will post the picture. Easy peasy.

If you've highlighted the picture on Photobucket and that's the only one on the page you're viewing, those 4 "boxes" will appear to the right of the photo instead of below.l

You can see the new console in this one I'll have to build a new one so I can get my legs under and the Firestone where they removed the rod locker and made one on the other side

Thanks oldschool thats what I'm kind of wanting to do too. Had 3 1/2 people in here last saterday and that was to many with the currant layout. Want have the deck go almost to the console and have enough storage for all gear so it's not bouncing around and hitting griped over not happy about my fil stepping on a $200 rod an reel the only storage in the front has a cut in trolly pedal and my life jackes badly fit

this is the cutin for the trolling motor foot pedal. It's recessed into the only storage compartment in the front of the boat.
