I have some fouling and cold start issues and I want to get rid of the silly strapless plugs. Is there a standard electrode version out there that will directly interchange and be less sensitive to fouling?

The motor will run well on a QL77JC4 set at .030.

Make sure the thermostat is functioning properly and use synthetic TC-W3 oil to lessen carbon.

Running oil that either contains a carbon treatment like XD-50, or adding a carbon treatment to the fuel will also help.

The primary problems with cold starting on your motor are that 300 RPM is required to properly fire and that the chokes must be 100% absolutely closed when cold starting.

The only reliable way to check the chokes is to watch the plates with the cover off the carburetors while someone cranks the engine.

Agreed, use the QL77JC4 plugs. They will look like crap after being used awhile, but that is normal. The ignition system is able to fire through all the crap. The surface gap plugs are a joke on humanity.
