I had an electrical problem on my boat so I had to spend several hours under the dash on the carpet rewiring several wires while sweating in the hot sun.

Well, I guess I had an allergic reaction to either mildew or some chemical in the carpet because I broke out in blisters everywhere my skin touched the carpet. I then picked up a secondary staff infection and ended up in a world o' hurt.

I went to the doc and he gave me a shot in my uh... stern and several prescriptions so I am on the mend but I learned that something in my boats carpeting doesn't like me.

That sucks! Does it mean you can't go bare foot on your boat?

Sounds lihe time for new carpet befor someone eelse gets sick.

The carpet is pretty new, it makes me wonder if I am allergic to the anti-mildew/mold treatment that is on my carpet?

Either way, I think you're right, I probably need to have it replaced.

Naw, just needs breaking in. Sink the boat, retrieve it in about a week. It'll be fine.

so if you're allergic to the anti mildew treatment I guess you just need to grow a little mildew and put it in there. LOL

Naw, just needs breaking in. Sink the boat, retrieve it in about a week. It'll be fine.

I didn't think I did either which is one of the reasons I was surprised at such a reaction.

For sure there is something on the carpet you dont want. why not steam clean it ?

i think after that id pull it up and paint or gelcoat the deck.

i dont like goin to the dr much any more, they always seem to want to write scrips, in your case maybe necessarily, i think their in cahoots w/ the pharmacutical comps.

Right now the pollen counts are super high in your area. The reaction may have been caused by something deposited on the carpet rather than the carpet itself. I used to fish a tournament in the Lake Gaston area every year about this time. When I got my boat back to Pennsylvania I would pressure wash the carpet and the water looked like lemonaid coming out the scuppers.
