Hi Everyone,

I'm a first time boat owner/ restorer...lol. I'm a Army Wife and mother of 3, staring down a long seperation and have decided to "fix' up a vintage boat and motor. Don't ask what possessed me, I've never had a boat and neither did my parents, grandparents, etc.

She is a 1959 Pipestone Runabout with a 1962 Johnson Seahorse Electromatic. Hasn't been on water in 5 yrs., let alone started.

When I got her she had a small tree growing in the center of the deck from the green astroturf and moss. The wiring had been a bit chewed up and the deck was destroyed.

Luckily I got her home, did a little pruning, scrubbing, and deck tear out, and found that under all that she was quite a beauty. The hull is wood covered in fiberglass and finding that out was a glorious moment. She is otherwise in good condition. I had the engine checked out and it definately needs a carb rebuild and tuneup.

As we are on a very limited income this is a slow moving project, but I'm enjoying it thouroughly.

I would welcome any advice offered. And if anyone happens to know where a boat junk yard is in western washington I would be grateful beyond words.

Thanks for reading a little about me and my "project".

Welcome, go ahead and ask the stupid questions, it makes us stupid people feel smart to be able to answer (I'm only speaking for myself of course:)) The rest of the old salts on here know a lot about boats and things that float on water.
