I don't know how to do the survey thing, but I for one Love my Cobra, She's provided my family with two Summers of trouble free service, I handle her with kit gloves and keep it clean, I'm looking forward to another great boating season.
How many of you are with me?

When you see OMC bashing here it is nothing more than a good warning if you don't already have the boat. The fact is with a little extended hunting you could probably find a Merc that could be more easily worked on, and with cheaper parts availability. I didn't say no parts, but definitely cheaper and more available. This seems to be a reasonably decent argument to make to those considering a used boat.

At the same time, once you have a Cobra, then of course you should love it and make her right.

Stringer counts ???? Had the choice and could have traded it out but stuck with it, now is really the best time for a stringer.

Prices for parts are the cheapest they ever been, motors are going, and people are putting the drives up for sale now and cheaper then ever before.

Of course anything but the 2.3 and 460.

Hah the biggest and smallest ones hah.

Kind of a wierd question. when a drive is working, why would you post on a forum and say "My drive is working properly, what should I do" unfortunately, those people seldom post here.
So what you have is people that have a Cobra (or a stringer) that baby them and take special care of them, don't push the envelope and say, "Yea, no problems."
Now, if they do have problems and post here, they find out you can't buy manuals and techs to fix them are few and far between because the company went out of buisness over 10 years ago. Which makes manuals, techs and parts hard to come by.
SO, what you really want to know is how many people have a working Cobra outdrive and are praying it keeps working. And would they recommend to their BEST friend to get a Cobra (or stringer) because it was a good buisness decision and could be repaired by anyone. anywhere, at anytime.

And i thought he was gonna throw us outta here, whew .

No i wouldn't recommend it to a friend or a relative, to buy any omc product now.

But i know the stringer and the cobra between the 2 i would rather have the stringer.

The stringer turns tighter, lifts higher.

But you cant trim it unless you do it with the motor, and i don't have that option.

And i find i don't need it, there are 2 trim units off a L6 i can have right now for free and don't want it.

But in the end it's like Don said take care off it like anything else will last, don't and your on here sniviling how this and that broke.

Duh you don't change the oil in the drive ever, you don't change the impeller duh, why is the gears all messed up, duh why is the engine overheating.

I Love Cobras!!! Best money maker out there on the repair market. I sold all my tools and just sell reman's as quicker turn around for customer and myself plus the warranty is longer. I will not work on stringer drives anymore and 2 strokes older than 1970.
