Took a look at the 15 pages of show your Starcraft and it looks like everyone who has a top on theirs has a bimini. I've never been really fond of bimini tops and am looking for some options.

Does anyone have anything other than a bimini? Got some pictures you could share?

New Picture (1).jpgI have a snap type custom canvas with vinyl windows and even vinyl back doors in the starcraft that I'm rebuilding. And I built one for a crestliner I have 100_2365.JPG in which I made a frame to fit the rails going to a frame to fit a cargo cover(like a tonneau cover) for a short box pickup. It opens up so you can stand totally upright under it in back, or I can. Also put headlights on it for travelling after dark. And plexiglass side windows that can be put in, or taken out.

Do you have a higher resolution picture of the one on the Crestliner?

You can goto just about any canvus or sail maker they carry different designs of tops. some will even make you a template for you to make yourself.. I have several other pics, my wife like to take pics of everything. The problem is outsmarting the computer and getting them small enough to be accepted here. Sorry I don't have any with the top up. If you make one, just remember when the back comes up, the front comes down just a little, so if you extend the frame for lights, the must be a spacer in between to get the full lift. That's not something you want to find out after you've got it all put together.

I'd really like to get one like this, one that also has zip-in side curtains also.

No I don't...I think getting a custom top made is the best option. I just don't have that kind of cash to spend since I need a new motor.

Re: Lets Talk Tops

not to worry, HA, i have it on Good Authority that OBs are common, cheap, easily swapped, and inexpensive to fix.

FWIW, a T-top or similar would be a great first welding project and your local commcollege will have welding classes...learn a skill you'll use forever (CAVEAT: you'll go around looking for Projects you can weld up....:eek:). TIG welding isn't as hard as the mystique makes it sound, as long as you're just joining tube and not trying to do something like build up metal on a hashed cylinder head. i roughed out the price and i could build one for < cost of a top grade bimini....and no annoying straps to get in the way of fishing.
