Re: LICENCES

lol
1st of all mate im not looking for a GREEK licence, as i dont read or speak greek, i cant pass the test here, if i go to the uk and pass there, there is no guarantee the greek port police will accept it, my boat is now greek registered as it came from germany ! thats not the prob, its because of the length of the vessle and the size of engine, im only allowed 5 mtrs, and 30 hp engine, before any licence is needed, they want to see a uk motor craft licence & be able to understand its content, and then be able to tell me if its acceptable here !!sorry if you got the wrong end of the stick about this.
Craigo, tighlinesingreece2000@aol.com

http://www.powerboat-training-uk.co.uk/

http://www.powerboat-training-uk.co.uk/courses_motorboat.htm

This link talks about an ICC - International Certificate of Competance. An ICC is considered as the international 'boat driving licence'. It is often required by countries/operators if you wish to use your own craft or to charter one.

Perhaps the Greek authorities are familiar with the ICC.

The link below outlines the course content and details about the ICC.

I would print out the document in the link below and present it to the Greek authorities.

www .powerboat-training-uk.co.uk/Downloads/Course%20info%20~%20ICC%20(2006).pdf

Dunaruna, yeah maybe a little unfair, but unfair for everyone to be jumping on the guy.

greece, sorry to hear the bad news about the Bayliner.
The Boston Whaler is a much finer boat.
I hope it works well for you.

Re: LICENCES

Wouldn't this have been a great deal simpler if we would had the full story in the first post? Simply requesting an "Operators License" or "Operators Certificate" rather than a very generic "license" would have at given us a clue that it wasn't boat registration that was the problem.

Re: LICENCES

I'm confused as to why if he had the 50HP Force on the Bayliner and ran it in Greek waters why it would need licensed now that it is on the Whaler?I thought the max was 30HP without a license? I normally agree with eveything you say Roscoe but this still smells fishy to me.

Re: LICENCES

rottenray, he bought the Bayliner and found out the hull and transom were saturated before he even got to use it.

So he found the Whaler, bought it, registered it, and mounted the Force engine from the Bayliner.
I helped him identify the motor via emailed photos, and found him a manual a month ago.
He's had sort of a run of bad luck so far, and just wants to get everything straightened out so he can get on the water and use it, legally.

Well, it sounds as if he is on a small island, and not the mainland of Greece. Which is probably why he is having such difficulty in this. The smaller islands don't have the same support for foreigners that the mainland(of almost any country) does.
