Gentlemen... its nice to sit down and look through the forums again--- Ive been working 75+ hours a week for the last 6 months and haven't had the chance to log on. I'm going to pull the Mercruiser 302 out of my '76 Cobalt this spring and am wondering about where to secure to the motor to lift it out. I see a silver plate with a half dollar sized hole in it attatched to the top/side of each exhaust manifold about where the fore and aft balance point of the motor would be. These things sure look like they would be lovely to run a sling through to pull the motor. I can't find any reference in my service manual to these plates or where to attatch to lift the motor. If these plates are for lifting will they support the full dress motor or do I need to strip it of all the accessories before I pull it? Thanks for any help.
