Noticed leakage at fitting on lift cylinder, when I tried to tighten line nut,the fitting it threads into just fell apart, applied very little pressure. The fitting is secured to cylinder with a metal band, does not appear to be removable ,other than cutting band. If band is removed could a fitting be threaded directly into cylinder? Probably will need to replace cylinder, looks like a major project. I have a manual, tried to drive rods out,as covered in manual. They are extremely tight! It has been primarily a salt water boat , with corrosion as expected.

The cylinder wall is not thick enough to thread fitting into, the old fitting threaded into stainless steel band, fitting had o-ring on end to seal. New fitting should screw into old band.

Thanks Clanton, for your response. If i can get the fitting out, next step will be to find a replacement. If that works out, it sure will beat trying to remove the cylinder!
