Lifter adjustment?

Hey all i have a 1995 4.3...silly question but are these self adjusting or is it possible to adjust them? i torqued the rocker arms to 20 fps is there a sequence? Or are they torque and go?

They are not self adjusting.They do need to be adjusted using the proper procedure. They are by no means torque and go. If you torqued them all at 20ft.lbs. then they are probably all messed up.If you aren't familiar with it then you need to find a manual to show you step by step how to do it. I wouldn't advise even starting the engine at this point as it may cause damage to push rods or valves.You need to loosen them all and then adjust using the proper procedure.

Assuming a Mercruiser, go to "Adults Only" sticky thread, and find the service manual for your 4.3L. Not 100% sure, but believe they are set wth just a torgue value. That might have been for the latter vortec heads though, so please check.

All V6 with balance shaft are non adjustable and you just torque the rocker nut down'
No matter what some people may say.
