There are several threads on this site about lifting a boat off of the trailer banks by lowering the front jack, blocking the stern with rr ties and then raising the boat with the jack so that it clears the banks for recarpeting. Has anyone tried this with a Lund and a ShoreLand'r?

About ten years ago i used the method you decribed on my 1988 Lund Rebel. For extra safety i hung it to the garage rafters, still sitting on big oak blocks for the stern.Bow held to rafters by stout line. Pulled trailor out to repaint.

Well, I gave it a try with a 17' Pro Sport. Everything worked as advertised except the stern would not lift off of the bunk. My bunks go all the way to the stern, so I would have to jack it up off of the bunks anyway. Decided a 200 mile round trip to the lake to re-cover the bunks was easier!

As you probably learned, it is a pretty easy job to re-cover your bunks- thus, I would tend to agree with you that it would be alot less work to float your boat and then re-cover the bunks. Obviously, it has alot to do with the size of the boat and the weight......
