got 95 hp 1967 merc. What's the best and safest way to lift it off of boat? Chain or strap? Particularly the best way to attatch to engine? I assume they are top heavy, this is my first attempt. Thx.

Re: lifting the right way

Electric start motors should have threaded hole in flywheel hub, install lifting ring/eye bolt made for this purpose.Lift with hoist with more capacity than what your motor weighs.Make sure chain, strap,or cable will handle the load, use a safety hook at lifting ring.
