Hi,

I have here in Canada a 18hp Mercury (1985 I thinck), it is around 115-120 lbs. I also have a Johnson 25hp 1984 in Mexico, which is even heavier.
In both cases, I don't like carrying motor that heavy, it's difficul to put on the boat. The motors travel often in the back seats of a car, laying on the sideand it's a mess to put it there because it's heavy.
My question is... Which motors are the lightest in that range (not less than 15hp) ?
I don't really care if it's a 2 or 4 strokes. I just want something not too old. (1995 or newer).

I've read that the Johnson-envirude OMC 15hp are good for their weight..

Any opinion ?

The Evinrude/Johnson 15 is a proven motor. Originally 72lbs C: 1977 As the years progress weight does too 95s are 72-80
2000 100, By the way a 77 25 is 101.Lightest 15s are short shaft manual start.

I got an option on a Johnson 15hp 1998. How much does it weight ?
If it's in a good overall state and it works well, how much would be a fair price ?

If its a 2 stroke a short shaft manual start is 77lbs.
4 strokes are over 100. Price could vary widely based on condition and location.
You might check ebay, craigslist and your local swap sheet for prices.

Thanks
1000 $ for a motor in a good state that works well, is it worth it ?

It cost almost 2300 new.Nada guide says used average under $400 but is allways very low.
I think little portable motors hold their value and it is exactly what your looking for.
Would be very good if you can get a test drive or run it in a barrel or at the least do a compressioin test.
Your looking for around 100 psi and within 10% between cylinders.
