Re: Lightning during snow?

I live in a Arab, small town about 25 miles south of Huntsville. Not so much ice here except some this morning that put a nice crust on top of what we got.

We have a plant in Gadsden, Alabama. I am normally down there for the first 2 or 3 weeks of January. Not this year though as there are no new launches scheduled there till the late part of the year. Glad I missed it !!!! we have a lot less snow up here.

I was elk hunting up in Colorado at about 10,000 ft and noticed a bad storm coming in fast. The ground was clear, early fall, thunder, lightening, and wind were coming quick so I put everything in the truck and retreated to the tent to stay dry. The storm comes over top and to my surprise it starts snowing. Now I come from the shores of Lake Superior in a town that averages 300 inches of snow a year and I have never seen lightening and snow together before then.

Ya Thunder Snow, caused by instability in the Atmosphere. The Weather channel showed a video of it happening in Atlanta the other day. Has happened here too. Warm air meets cold air--boom! haha

Mother Nature can do amazing things. 'Bout the only time I get concerned with the weather is if it starts hailing (frequently precedes a tornado). Then I'll duck 'n cover.

I live in S/E Michigan south of Detroit. We get thunder and lightning during a snowstorm once or twice a season. Pretty much normal here.
