We rarely get electrical storms here... last night on the way home from picking up my kid we got one. It was dark and we were driving along a quiet country road and there was a flash outside my drivers door. I thought to myself, "Hey, that was kinda' close." I looked forward again and... KAPOW! A huge bolt hit the ground 30 feet in front of my truck! I saw dirt fly... steam... it was super-loud. It left my eyes struggling to see from the flash scared the hell out of me. Was that a close call?

I was out in the Lake fishing one time when a similar thing happened, my buddy said, "Do you think we ought to go in"? I said, "If not, ya might want to lay that Graphite lighning rod down though"!!!!

Wow Magster<br />One night back in 92 we had one like that. A bolt hit a power line pole outside of a friends house. The pole snapped and the pole-pig (transformer) landed in his driveway. Blew a 6ft wide by 4 ft deep hole! The explosion also blew out his front room window.<br />By mid morning the power company had the pole and transformer out of his driveway. But him and his wife could not get their cars out of the garage.<br />No one was hurt but cement could be found 60 ft away in each direction.<br />Scarey stuff

lightning hit the concreet on my front porch 2 yrs ago. We heard it , we wre in the shop 100 yds away , when we went in the house later we had lost our tv and puter. It blew a chunk of concrete out about 1 ft. sq. lwr

Roughly 8 years ago i was under a house ,and lighting struck a oak tree outside came down the and went threw the castiron sewer pipe i was was next too went up threw my hand and out of my other elbow,it knocked me roughly 15 feet threw the flex ductwork,the doctors said i was lucky to be alive,they think it messed with my enternal clock,and thats some of the reason i have all the signs for athritis at a younger age.<br /><br />Ive also been fishing when the rod getts to tingling and the mono lifts,i just threw nthe rod down and got in the bottom of the boat.scary sh@t.

When I was about 13 a strike came thought the kitchen window and hit the the sink that was under it. <br />Same house a couple years later lightning hit the pole out front of the house and killed everything that was on at the time. My knew receiver was toast and to a 16 year old it was the end of life itself.<br />Just this past summer I was changing a battery in my boat when a storm rolled up. Not much rain so I continued what I was doing until the I started to feel electricity flow out the battery into my arms and hearing static pops. I drooped everything and started for the house when a strike happened so close it all happened in a millisecond. Flash, Boom and static popping ever where. Not sure how close it came I was on the ground at the time.
