Situation: Four Winns F244 Funship, weekly user, in dry storage, bimini top plus wakeboard tower. The zillion snaps and heavy weight (10oz/sqyd) of my sunbrella plus cover is a bit much to handle. I want an indoor boat dust cover that's easy to deploy and remove. Will keep the heavy one around for when it's left out overnight or towed.
Idea: lightweight (2oz/sqyd) nylon cover above the rub rail with a stretchy fabric like spandex below the rub rail to keep it on the boat, extending a foot or so at the bow and stern. Maybe add one snap on each side in the middle, or a hook on the middle cleat.
Questions:
* What's better, stretchy fabric or shock cord?
* Anyone have any experience with nylon?
I sewed the old one in 2015, and it went reasonably well. Draping the boat with fabric and using a stapler to get the fit right. Pretty simple, really.
Please let me know what you think.
thanks,
Rick
