Re: Like a broken record in here - rotten deck, stringers.

Step .5 is done. Having no garage or covered area to work on the boat, I decided it was time to do something about that. Bought a 18x20 carport with gabled ends on it yesterday, 7' high walls, and for now, they arent enclosed. This will keep debris from cluttering my driveway, and give me a place to tackle this on rainy days. When I am done, I will put walls on it, and turn it into either a garage or a shed with a porch.

I could have bought another boat, but I needed a garage :)

Next - Step 1. Ripping everything apart, and getting ready to start the rebuild. Still haven't decided about flooring materials. I am now leaning toward StarBoard, if I used this material for flooring, couldn't I go back with outdoor carpet, and not worry about rot?

Question 2. If you look at the pics... the foam in the boat appears to be long bricks, not poured foam. Can you buy bricks like this that are closed cell, and not prone to waterlogging?

Question 3. Has anyone tried to just fill the whole section with foam (maybe a channel on the bottom for drainage to the bilge) and not do stringers at all? I think the stringers are what I am dreading the most. I haven't got any good wood working saws or methods to measure the curve of the hull for the stringers..

THanks.
