Wolfmother.

Just got their CD from Amazon.com-An Australian band. If you like Sabbath/Zep then you'll love it.

Take a look at www.wolfmother.com/2005.html or www.myspace.com/wolfmother for a listen.

Best 'new' band I've heard in years. I get the feeling they'll go very far indeed.

Nos4r2 - A San Francisco station has been playing Wolfmother’s ‘Joker and the Thief’ song for sometime, ie months. In fact, Wolfmother is in SF now playing some small-venue gigs.

I'm listening to the 1st song played on the 1st link. Not bad, actually it's pretty good. The voice does remind me of Ozzie, but the lyrics and some of the music reminded me more of Uriah Heep.

Very Good. Thanks for putting out this link!!!! :) :)

Thanks Nos,

I like them. Ozzy, Zep, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath are all right up my alley. They sound good. There just are not enough up and comers to replace the older groups. I was hoping Robert Plant would bring back more of the Zep sound with his Strange Sensation group. I like his new album, but it is not Zep. Just one more time, I would love to just hear him belt one out. I don't know if the voice will allow it any more or not, but I'm still hopeful.

Hi,

The big problem with music, be original (extremely difficult) .... don't try resurrect 30 year old music and prertend it's your own.

Souds like Nirvana copying Zep.

Real cheap

But you are probably right .... with the right backing they will go as far as the next album and then crash ...... bad cover band.

Cheers
Andrew

I’ve only heard the one song (Joker/Thief), thought it sounded like something the White Stripes would do but with more body.

Hands down, Ian Gillan. Never saw Deep Purple in concert, but I did have a chance to see him perform with Black Sabbath back in the 80's - in Toledo, Ohio. Great show.

Still like a little Zep once in a while, but I'm too old to break-in a new group of head-bangers.

Based on this statement, are there truly any originals in rock? For beginners, rock evolved out of the blues. So there are no originals in rock. Jimi Hendrix may be as close to an original as one may get. I think he was greatly influenced by Dylan, and on and on and on.

I guess what I believe is that it is ok to play rock similarly to that of another group, as long as you are playing your music. Otherwise, we would have just one country song, one rock, one blues song, and so on to listen to.

Definitely Gillan-and Sabbath don't sound right without Ozzy.

Incidentally, I saw Thin Lizzy a couple of years ago and they are still excellent even without Phil Lynott.

Agreed! Saw Ozzy after his split with Black Sabbath long ago, Also in Toledo, Ohio. Blizzard Of Oz Tour. I think triumph opened. Been long ago, and many of these concerts seem to now blend together. Randy Rhoads with Ozzy played like no other. Would have loved to see R. Blackmore with Deep Purple. Tony Iommi with Black Sabbath held his own though.
