Hi skippers, I am trying to remove a rather heavy lime build up on transom from setting in water lake erie. Its painted aluminum hull (alumicraft trophy). Just tried a marina recommended "Zing" that cuts the lighter buildup on the sides. Even when applied with steel wool it does nothing on transom. My next try is 100% muriatic acid.Zing has in it. Not concerned about the paint as some of the areas are down to bare alum. from trying to scrape it. Any better products out there?? Daveydoodle

Muriatic will melt it right off. Just wear gloves, glasses, and do it somewhere where there's some ventilation. I've not found anything else that will cut it.

Ok tried it all cept the 100 perc. Acid , have to wait till I can get away from tlr frame on stern then will attack with that. Noticed some horizontal areas along side it comes off with all sugg. But the vertical transom needs the acid wash down, just put a newer trailer under it and do not want to stain the paint. Thanks for all the help as always ...
