I have a water trough I can put under my boat and fill with water 1.5 ft deep holds about 80 gals. If I put this under my motor, can i go through the final sections of the link and sink procedure while running my motor in the tub?

Re: Link and sink

You will need to get the water up over the mating line between the lower unit and mid section heycods. This is to make sure the water pump is submerged and will pump. Idealy, getting the water up on the midsection where it would be if the boat was setting in the water would be the thing to do. Sometimes hard to do so just get the water level up on the midsection as far as possible. A large garbage can can sometimes work or a 55 gal drum.

I used to use a big tub at the marina. But we always ran the flushette too. That insures water to the pump and the water in the tub muffles the noise.

I'm not sure what your linc n sync involves, but if you need to run much above an idle (in gear) you'll be amazed how fast 80 gallons of water will disappear.

DHP (talking about your 88 HP)

running wot with a prop in a barrel is asking for
problems. you need a testwheel and a good test tank.
Danger is the word in my mind.

but for getting the backpressure to set the idle i think it will be safe.

Re: Link and sink

You can probably link just fine, but it will be hard to sink your boat in 80 gallons of water
