link and sync questio

i plan on doing a link and sync today. it calls for a timing light. could an automotive timing light work? or what would you suggest?

timing is easy, just do not miss a step in the linc n sinc, or you start from scratch.

i have one more question to ask. when doing any of these procedures-are they to be done under load? i was reading the service manual before i go outside to it but it doesn't mention whether it can be done in the driveway or i need to take her down to the dock and do this. thanks again.

driveway, idle speed just has to be tweaked when you get to the water.

Hold on though. . . setting Max advance needs to be done under load, or using the Joe Reeves method in the FAQ.
