Sounds good! Get a hold of Champion J4C (or J6C if you troll a lot), gap them at 0.75mm. They seem to work a lot better than the NGK B7S or B6S. You may have the idle rpms set low as they sound a lot different from a four-stroke. 600-700 rpms in gear is ideal - of course the rpms will pop up from that when you put it in neutral.<br />As for chopping the throttle - that wouldn't suprise me. I can't say I've ever done it on an 18hp so I'll leave that to someone who has.

I did get hold of some J6C the other day (I do about 50% trolling) but the thread length is much shorter than the NGK's that are in the motor at the minute. That is not to say that its got the correct plugs in it now, I got the plugs last year as a replacement for the ones that were in when I was given the motor so they might not have been right in the first place. Fortunatly no damage has been done if they are wrong, but if you could confirm the plug type, is it definitly J6C?<br /><br />Lee
