link & sync silly question

When doing a link and sync, should the throttle handle indicator be at the start position? I followed the directions for my 25el72, but nowhere in the Seloc manual does it say where the throttle handle indicator should be.

Re: link & sync silly question

Now this is all fuzzy to me this morning. But on my 50hp or my 115hp I was told to push the shifter till it just clicks in gear and then pull it half way back.

Seloc and Clymer will you get you started, but you can't beat the factory manual that is specific to your motor.

Not much help, but I do remember reading that and was shocked because it was not mentioned in the first manual I had.

Makes no difference. Those throttle markings are only approximate anyway. Proper start postion is put the motor in neutral, then turn the throttle grip toward fast as far as it will go (it won't go very far). Once running and in gear, fast is thataway and slow is the other way.
