Linking two Yamaha controllers

Well... appears the marina hit a snag. Originally he suggested using two 6x3 Yamaha controls for the two helms. He switched the direction to use one 703 and one 6x3 not realizing the electrical harnesses are different. 10 wire for 703 and 7 for 6X3. Both controls will work on the new VMAX 115hp. Yamaha does not make an adapter to link two controllers esp two different ones. So if I splice the 6x3 to the 703 with proper color code match it should work correct? Any comments would be helpful.

If you match colours to colours it should all work.
