If you get an electronic ignition, you can eliminate the cap/points maintenance. Oil filter/oil jas to be changed on jet engines too unless you're a 2-stroker, same with fuel filters. Plugs need to be checked more often on jet boat engines than they do on I/O's. I can't think of anything other than bellows inspection every year and replacement when needed. Impeller lasts several years under normal conditions and doesn't take long to change out. It's mainly just checking the alignment/greasing splines/steering/etc that is an annual maintenance thing.

Why would you change spark plugs yearly?

Because, on certain installations (eg my boat, a Bayliner 175 with Merc 3,0l inboard) condensation can drip onto the plugs, especially the No 4 and cause the plugs to rust. I had one fail just at the top of the thread and only by the grace of God was I able to get the broken thread out of the cylinder head with an easy out.

Now I have an old set of plugs which I screw loosely into the engine during the winter layup, after I have sprayed fogging oil into the cylinders.

That is probably due to excessive moisture (water logged foam) but not to installation itself.

While not considered a limited life part, a spare prop (kept in the boat) is almost mandatory.

My old prop is going to be sent out to be repaired. It'll be kept as a towing and spare prop.

If your baot has it a fuel filter/water seperater filter. I change the plugs each year (cheep maintance item and IF it comes down to trouble shooting it's one item less you have to deal with).

Your Volvo does not have an impeller in the outdrive. The raw water pump mounted on the front of your engine and runs off a pulley. your motor also has a circulation pump that doesn't need routine maintenance.

i'll add that to the list!

the water pump is located on the engine, but it still has an impeller that needs replacing every couple of years.

Well it happened to me and I can assure you, the foam in my boat isnt waterlogged. Theres always a little water in my bilge though as a small amount will make its way into the boat through the air vents in the side when under way or during heavy rain.

even if you dont have that problem, a boat by its very nature, lives in a moist environment with wide temperature changes which will give you condensation.
