OK so i did a search for dual batter install. Now i need to figure out what i need to do this myself? In the diagram i see a green red and purple wire.

What type of wire do i need for each of these? Also do i need to mount the switch in the engine compartment or can i mount it in a more accesible area just use more wire to move it where i need it?
I have the battery but need to order the battery box battery switch and wire to run. But i just wanna make sure i get the correct wire and order all of this together at one time

I also have a onboard charger i would like to install. Is here anything differnt i need to do or just neg to neg and pos to pos and done?

Thanks in advance.

Re: list of items needed for battery switch install

Patience my friend. We do need to get a fresh cup of coffee and visit the "library" periodically -- and some of us really need to take a break and do the work we are paid to do. Anyway here's the deal. The green wire is not really green but rather black as it is ground. The purple wire is not purple but red. Here is what you probably don't want to hear. Although you can mount the switch wherever you want, length of the wire is important from a voltage loss as well as a dollars and cents perspective so you want to stay fairly close to the batteries to keep cable lengths short. The cable from switch terminal 1 to battery 1 POS, switch terminal 2 to battery 2 POS, switch terminal C to the engine and the cables from both battery NEG terminals to the engine must be the same size as the existing battery cables from the engine to the existing battery. In other words, these are battery cables, not standard wire. The cables for the house loads (again black and red) can be smaller. So you see, the large cables will be costly if you run them very long distances. Besides the cable, you will need the cable ends (ring terminals) and you will need a fairly stout crimping tool or (gasp) be able to solder them which requires a fairly stout soldering iron. And for electrical work you use rosin core solder, not acid core.
