List of thread topics that tend to go south!!

I was just curious what topics here tend to turn into arguments and get closed? In my experience the list goes something like this,
1) anything political
2) Jet Ski threads
3) I want to make my boat loud
4) PFD's (learned this one recently).

What other topics around here tend to make people loose there composure??

Please, Please don't use this thread to debate the issues above. I'm not trying to stir up controversy. My motivation for this thread was last month I asked when children are required "by law" to be wearing PFD's and little did I know I was walking right into a minefield!! So now I just want to make myself and others aware of what topics are likely to turn into a trainwreck so they can be avoided.

Liberals, Conservatives, Nixon, Carter, Ford (not so much...), Reagan, Bush(s), Clinton(s), Gore, Obama, Cheney, Dan Rather, Social Security, Welfare, Health Care, Rush (not the band..), O'Reilly, Kennedy,Ed (back on the list), Oil companies, Iraq, Global Warming (or any environmental subject), the Economy, the Government, Guns, Ethanol, Synthetic oil, Immigrants, Fuel-oil mix ratios, "what's the best boat?", inboard vs outboard, Mercury vs OMC, Jet Skiiers, bratty kids (but MY kid is perfect!), boat launching, revenge for petty slights,

I'm sure there are others....

Honestly, anything where 'sides' are involved is opportunity enough to head south. Any topic kept to the facts cannot be disputed. The second opinion comes into play, egos get involved, belief systems enter, facts get presented, hostility ensues.

Are there really thread topics regarding choice of beer? Where have I been? Does Corona or Dos Equis get a vote? Well, it does now. I guess most of the threads mentioned are deleted before I get a chance to read them. I got a suggestion, instead of deleting these threads, could we just move them to a new category? Maybe call it "just for laughs?" I have seen quite a few threads that crack me up watching how nasty difference of opinions can be.

I must admit i love a good train wreck of a thread!! It's like driving by an accident on the road. You just have to look I have had to bite my tongue on more than a few threads to abide by the code of conduct, but there's always someone who doesn't. I know the mods hate these train wrecks, but I love em.
