I was trying to organize my tools using the Special Tools book that Mercruiser supplies but found that they don't list all their tools in that book. Is there any list on the internet that has all their tools from the books?

Use the service manual for whatever you are working on.

Yeah I was planning on having everything a bit more organized so when it comes time to work on something it will be easier to find the tools. Right now I'm not really working on anyting and thought it would be a good time to go through everything and put the tools in organized spots. I was hoping to find somekind of a checklist or something that I can use to go over what I have and write down where they are in shop.

i don't have a checklist for ya. i do see in the paper service manuals they have the tools section. at least in 1 and 2....
as for organization. the store i got my boat from had a hip shadow board for the specialty mercruiser tools. looked real easy to find what he wanted. + he knew when something was missing as it was only the shadow of the tool with no tool on the board... best i can do for ya..

Yea ziggy Air Force style huh ??

You could just place them in a tool box just the merc tools, and place that box on a shelf. Mark it merc tools only.

This way they are out of the way. Me i have weedwacker box, snowblower box, etc.

Re: List of tools

I do have a 2007 Mercruiser special tools catalog in pdf format. It's not online or anything like that. I will post it on my 4share site this afternoon when I get home from work.

Thanks Don that would be great, when you can let me know how to get to the site. Much appreciated. As far as the shadow idea you mentioned ziggy, that would work great but I doubt I would have the wall space : )

You prowl the local flea markets, like the big one we have near me, you will be surprised what you can pick up for 5 bucks.

I've got a bunch of the tools already but keeping track of them has been a big part of the problem when trying to do the work. I swear I spend more time looking for things than anything else.

My plan is to have a box for alpha tools, a box for bravo tools, and a box that has tools related to both. I hope to then just have a list of what is in what box with a checklist. My long term goal is to do this for all the mercruiser related tools.

Re: List of tools

Those are the kinds of things that Merc dealers MUST Buy. No choice. along with all those manuals, sales brochures, displays, motors, service schools that the techs MUST go go, and on and on and on. Lots of things they have to do to become a dealer. and none of it is cheap or free.
Ever wonder why parts cost so much and labor rates are what they are.

I never wondered that !

I wonder how they can be so cheap ?

First the school, whats that cost ?

And tools just essentials ? What those cost ?

Then Electric, gas, insurance, rent, bills. To put a few dollars in your pocket at the end of the week ain't easy.

It's really a wonder how it is so cheap ?
