little box??

On a 77 dixie I have 2 sets of battery cables coming off of the battery, one to the motor and the other goes into a little box under the splashwell of the boat. The box has two screws on it and opens to what looks like a selenoid of sorts can anyone tell me what it is?

the one goes to a motor, like a trolling motor? the solenoid in the box is probably the starter solenoid for your engine.

It could be a terminal block to charge your battery.
