I have a 1979 Mercury 7.5 HP. I notice it leaks some gas out of the black plastic grate on the front of the carb. Is a little leakage normal or does this mean a float or other problem?

Re: Little Carb Leakage

When priming the engine you may get some leakage but the rest of the time you should not, could have a inlet needle leaking or a float set to high

Everything Laddies said and,

Or your float could have a leak and became fuel logged.

If you're lucky there's just a little dirt stuck on the seat.

The needle and seat are cheap to buy from merc. The float is a little more expensive
