live well

i jsut purchased a new alumacraft navigator 175 cs. my question is how do you get the darn live well to fill? it is equipped with with an aerator pump and a drain plug valve. does the areator pump fill the live well?<br />thanks, chris

Do you have any other features such as a raw water washdown? If so there is probably a directional valve coming off the raw water intake that directs the water to the livewell or raw water washdown, or both. This valve may be in the off position which isn't enabling water to come through to fill your livewells.<br /><br />I can tell you from personal experience make sure you dont turn on the raw water washdown without having the end capped or a hose attached to it or things will get very wet very quick.<br /><br /><br />Kevin

kevin, i dont have a raw water washdown. i put the boat in the water for the first time sunday and havent figured out all the bells and whistles. should the aerator pump fill the live well?<br /><br />there is a drain valve lever and that does just drain the tank.

The aerator pump should fill the livewell. It is possible your pump may be airlocked. It's not supposed to happen but often does on a new pump. Try priming it, then see if it works. This can be done in the yard by shooting some water in with the garden hose.

thanks dakota, i should then shoot water in screened port that is at the bottom of transom?
