Hi
Does anyone know if a live well drain has to be above the waterline or can it be below without causing problems.
thanks

Re: Livewell drain

As long as the bottom of the livewell is above the water level outside the boat it will drain to empty, but relatively slowly when the boat is in the water. If it isn't the well will drain until the water in the well is at the same level as the water outside the boat.

If you are running a recirculating livewell, then you want the drain below waterlevel. It will be quiet then.

Terry's right, a below-the-line drain will maintain a level equal to the boat's waterline.

But if you're talkin bout the overflow drain, I believe it needs to be above the waterline, otherwise the fill pump will be able to overflow it.

Re: Livewell drain

Can anyone tell me where to put potable water on a 1989 Catalina 224 Cuddy? Or advise me as to where obtain diagram of boat? I just bought boat and it has a live well rectangle in rear! And a small square hole on floor before cabin! I poured five gallons of water there thinking that was the site for potable water but faucet didn't work! Sorry to sound so dumb! I bought boat for my wife who has emphasema and C.O.P.D with heart and lung desease! She loves fishing! Can anyone one help me find diagram of boat pumps & design to locate tranks and pumps?
