Re: Livewell Stoped working... help!
Livewell pumps are mounted on the transom - the intake is a thru-hull fitting. Usually, the intake hose is threaded and that piece of trim on the outside is a nut holding the pump to the transom.
But before you start dismantling your bass boat..........in my experience, 97.6% of all electrical problems on boats can be solved by cleaning and tightening connections.
Have you check the fuse? Inspect the fuse holder for corrosion - same with the switch. If you have a continuity tester you can test the switch, if not, disconnect the wires on the switch and touch them together - if that starts the pump, then replace the switch.
I use a dremel with a stainless steel wire brush to clean my electrical connections, works great, but a piece of sandpaper works too.
If ya can't get it to work - wait till you get the old one off to buy a new one - some of 'em the intake is at a 90? or 45? angle, or some it's straight-thru - whatever fits in the space. Get the same GPH, same size outlet, same size intake. Clean all the old sealant off inside & outside, cover the intake tube with 3M 5200 Marine Adhesive Sealant, push it through the hole, apply some more 5200 on the inside and some more on the outside, screw the nut down tight, wipe off the excess 5200 before it dries, cut off the excess intake pipe with a pvc pipe cutting tool or dremel or hacksaw or whatever you have.
It's below the waterline so be *sure* you get it sealed good. Also sealed on the inside cause bilge water might get up that deep (it shouldn't since that's not a submergible pump, but don't take any chances with your transom getting wet).
