LMF-200/EP-60 do I absolutely need the 120 ohm resistor if just 1 input?

I installed the EP-60 fuel flow meter (basic LMF200 deal with just fuel flow)

It works intermittently. If I power up the boat, sometimes it will read 0GPH and then I start the engine and it will work fine.

Other times it reads --- and won't work. If I scan the bus, it finds no devices.
I have to cycle the battery switch off and repower everything. Then... it might work... or it might take 3 or 4 attempts.

All I have is the gauge and FF pickup. My boat is small so the cable reached. I used no Tee, or extension cable. .. just plugged the EP60 into the gauge.

Do I need to use the extension cable, or tee, or both and do I need the resistor?

fishfinder transducer interfering maybe... - it runs in the same gunwale...

You need the termination resistor.

All NMEA 2000 Networks need 2 termination resisters and you also need the tee. The resisters provide the 120 Ohms resistence necessary for the network to communicate...

BTW, you need 2 tees, one for the gauge, one for the sender...
